Clifton Down train station makes it easy to travel from our main campus to other areas of the city and beyond.

Clifton Village

This idyllic neighbourhood is in east Clifton. You'll find high-end dining experiences, artisan produce and picturesque streets.

Looking for things to do in Clifton Village? You can: 

  • Have brunch at the vegan East Village Café
  • Browse the independent bookstore Heron Books
  • Stop by the Albion for a Sunday roast.

The Clifton Downs

Enjoy the great outdoors on Clifton Downs. With 200+ acres of green space, it’s the perfect place to walk, run or cycle.

The breathtaking views of the Avon Gorge (and the famous gorge goats!) make it a must-visit spot in Bristol.

The Downs also plays host to popular outdoor events every summer. FORWARDS Festival, Bristol Pride and Bristol SU's Welcome Fair are all held here annually.

Brandon Hill Park

Tucked away behind Park Street are Brandon Hill and Cabot Tower.

This beautiful green space is an oasis in the heart of the city, only a few minutes' walk from the Clifton campus.

This a popular location for firework viewing on Bonfire Night and New Year's Eve. 

Clifton Suspension Bridge and Leigh Woods

Visible across the city, Clifton Suspension Bridge is an iconic Bristol landmark. If you want to get a closer look, you can walk across for unparalleled views of the city and River Avon.  

Just beyond the bridge is Leigh Woods, with nearly 500 acres of woodland. It's less than 30 minutes' walk from the University's Richmond Building, and also accessible by bus, bike or car. Enjoy the tranquillity of the countryside only a short distance from the city.
